However, Kylie’s fight is far from over. She also suffers from sarcoptic mange, a highly contagious skin disease caused by mites. This condition manifests as crusty, bald patches of skin and, sadly, has resulted in significant damage to her ears.
Further complicating her recovery, Kylie remains dehydrated and anemic. She requires constant monitoring, particularly in the next 24 hours. Feeding her is a delicate process. Small, carefully measured meals are crucial to avoid refeeding syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition that can occur when a severely malnourished animal is given food too quickly.
