A heartwarming story unfolded this morning near Fairhaven Lake in Lytham after a German Shepherd dog was rescued from the water. The canine, believed to have been stranded overnight, was spotted by concerned citizens clinging to the shore.
Community effort leads to rescue
Thankfully, a swift response from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service, Lancashire Police, and members of the public ensured the dog’s safety. Working together, they were able to successfully pull the dog from the lake. The RSPCA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, has taken the dog into their care, where it is receiving the necessary veterinary attention.
Search for the owner underway
The dog’s miraculous rescue is overshadowed by the mystery surrounding its owner. Authorities are currently searching for the individual who may be desperately missing their furry companion. The Fylde Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“We’re aware of reports circulating on social media regarding a German Shepherd found at Fairhaven Lake,” a Fylde Police spokesperson stated. “We’re incredibly grateful to our colleagues at Lancashire Fire & Rescue, along with the members of the public who assisted in the rescue. The dog is now safe with the RSPCA.”
The search for the owner continues. “We’ll be conducting CCTV surveillance around the lake to try and locate the dog’s owner,” the spokesperson added. “Were you in the vicinity of Fairhaven Lake this morning?
