I wish someone would come and take me away from the shelter. I need to find a forever home

Today is Hilo’s birthday—a special day that should be filled with joy, celebration, and warmth. But instead, the shelter is quiet, and Hilo sits alone, waiting by the door of his kennel. He has been here for months, watching as other dogs are chosen by families, one by one. Yet, for some reason, no one ever picks him.

Hilo is a sweet and gentle dog, full of love to give. He doesn’t understand why he’s still here, why people pass by his kennel without stopping to meet him. His fur is a bit scruffy, and he’s not as energetic as some of the younger puppies, but his heart is pure, and all he wants is to be loved. Today, being his birthday, Hilo’s hope is even stronger. He dreams that maybe this will be the day someone will come, see him, and take him home.

He imagines what it would be like to finally leave the shelter, to have a family to call his own, a place where he belongs. He dreams of running in a backyard, sleeping by the fireplace, and getting belly rubs from a kind person who will love him forever. Hilo knows he could make someone so happy if only they gave him a chance.

As the day drags on, Hilo’s eyes remain fixed on the entrance, hoping that the next person to walk through will be the one. He doesn’t ask for much—just a home where he can feel safe and loved, where he can spend his days being cared for and his nights resting peacefully.

Hilo’s birthday wish is simple: to be chosen, to be wanted, and to have a forever home where he can celebrate not just this birthday, but many more to come.
