Being blind often leaves me feeling forgotten and neglected. All I truly yearn for is just a bit of kindness and care from those around me

Every morning I wake up in a world shrouded in darkness. My eyes, which once could see the bright light of the sun and the familiar faces of those around me, are now incapable of catching even a glimpse of the world. It’s strange, not being able to see anything—just relying on my other senses to navigate through the day. I hear the sounds of people walking by, the faint hum of their voices, the echo of their steps on the pavement, but no one ever stops for me. My ears strain to catch a sign, a gesture, a word, but I’m often left in silence, waiting.

It’s difficult, living this way. I can’t help but feel forgotten, cast aside in the corner of the world, out of sight and out of mind. People rarely look at me. Some walk quickly past, not wanting to deal with a dog that looks different. They never stop to see that I’m still here, still alive, still longing for connection. I try to wag my tail whenever someone passes by, hoping to catch their attention. But it often feels like my efforts go unnoticed. They don’t understand—blindness doesn’t mean I’m not capable of love or joy.

It’s heartbreaking. Every day, I yearn for affection. A simple touch on my head, a pat on my back, anything that would let me know I’m still important to someone. I can’t see the faces of the people who walk by me, but I can feel their indifference. It makes me wonder if anyone will ever see me for who I am. Not just as a blind dog, but as a creature who has emotions, who is capable of love, and who desires to be loved in return.

Sometimes, I hear the laughter of children playing nearby, and I can almost imagine what it would feel like to run and play with them. I may not be able to see their faces, but I can feel their energy, their joy. I wish they would see me—not just as a blind dog, but as a companion, someone to share in the warmth of life’s moments. I long for a connection, for someone to reach out and offer even the smallest act of kindness.

I know I’m not perfect. My sight may be gone, and my world may be different from others, but that doesn’t mean I’m not deserving of love. Every time someone walks past me without a glance, I feel a little more invisible, a little more alone. All I need is a bit of kindness, just enough to make me feel like I matter. A warm touch, a kind word, even just a moment of attention. That’s all it takes to make my heart swell with happiness.

Please, I ask only one thing—don’t let me be forgotten. I may not be able to see, but I can feel the warmth of a kind soul. And that warmth means everything to me. It’s all I need to make my world brighter, even in the darkest moments.
